Our Story

Twinkle was created by Jane and Cherry, two lifelong friends whose lives became deeply intertwined through a journey that forever shaped the way we understand family, love, and support.

Our connection to surrogacy began with Cherry's own experience. After facing significant challenges during her first pregnancy, she welcomed her second child with the help of a Gestational Carrier. Throughout the entire process, Jane stood beside her — as a friend, a researcher, and a constant source of strength. Together, we navigated the doctors, the emotions, the uncertainties, and the incredible moments of gratitude.

As Cherry's journey unfolded, something unexpected happened.

Friends and families began reaching out, all seeking guidance, clarity, and hope. Each shared a familiar longing:

"We want to become parents too."

Together, we realized that our personal story could become a light for others.

So, combining first-hand experience, deep empathy, and the strength of a friendship built on trust, we created Twinkle — a place where families can grow, where GCs are honored, and where every path to parenthood is treated with respect and love. Over the past three years since our founding, we have provided consulting services to 500+ families and have successfully facilitated over 100 matches. (Our first client's surro baby we delivered was just born 3 days after Cherry's surro baby!

Our name comes from that twinkle in every parent's eyes when they look at their child.

Twinkle is our promise:

  • To hold every family's dream with care.
  • To support every GC with dignity.
  • And to walk alongside each journey with warmth, understanding, and heart.

We create families, one twinkle at a time.

Cherry Hong

Cherry Hong

Co-founder

Base: Beijing, China / Los Angeles, CA

Languages: English, Mandarin, French (business proficiency)

Education: B.A. in Media + Art History minor, UC Berkeley; Ed.M. in Art Education, Harvard University

Cherry's journey into surrogacy began with her own path to motherhood. After a difficult first pregnancy, she turned to surrogacy for her second child — a journey supported closely by her best friend and now cofounder, Jane. When Jane told her she saw a 'twinkle' in Cherry's eyes as she looked at her daughter, the name Twinkle was born. As more families began reaching out for guidance, what started as personal experience and friendship became a mission to help others grow their families.

Having grown up across China, Canada, France, and both coasts of the U.S., Cherry has always been fascinated by how people connect and support one another. Before founding Twinkle, she built a career as an investor in the consumer and technology sectors. She brings professionalism, empathy, and cross-cultural understanding to support intended parents and GCs throughout their journeys.

As a mother of two, she has a deep love for big families and spends most of her free time with her family. Cherry is also a painter and a world traveler.

Base: Seattle, WA

Languages: English, Mandarin, Conversational Spanish

Education: B.S. & M.S. in Civil Engineering, University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign; M.S. in Data Science, University of Chicago

Jane's journey into surrogacy began when she supported her best friend and business partner, Cherry, on her path to parenthood. Inspired by the warmth and strength of the surrogates she met, she naturally built a close community of these incredible women and connected them with intended parents. What started as a friendship and shared mission soon became a calling — leading to the founding of Twinkle in 2023 to help more families grow.

Before Twinkle, Jane worked as a Data Scientist in the tech industry. She enjoyed her work, but nothing compared to the fulfillment of helping create real, lasting impact through surrogacy. She now brings her analytical and project management skills to guide surrogates and intended parents through their journeys with care and ease.

In her free time, Jane is happiest by the ocean. She is a scuba diver and loves sharing the beauty of ocean through her underwater photography.
